I went about my blog journey never looking back and setting goals for myself. If you asked me 2 years ago if I ever thought my blog would have over 300 GFC and 119 twitter followers, I would have asked you if you were crazy. In the beginning I saw big bloggers as cliques, being that they worked together. Did I think they would ever want to get to know me? Well to be honest, I thought they would never talk to me, much less become my friend. Boy was I wrong.
Blog with Confidence
Just like in real life, often I find lack of confidence issues that can cause you to not reach your blogging peak. Looking at other blogs as a newbie I was always enamored by how other bloggers were able to gain readers, have 1000+ twitter followers, 30+ comments on blog posts, etc. I analyzed and compared writing styles and found it to be simply amazing how bloggers could create these posts that were intriguing and ones that had tons of comments on. I truly strived to get to that point and reach my goals.
Over the past two years I have learned that the blogging community can bring you up, but it can also bring you down. Trying to compare your stats to other bloggers is not a smart thing to do. I found that it left me never satisfied with my blog, and I truly forgot the reason that I started blogging along the way. It was all about the numbers. Most of us blog for enjoyment and truly there is nothing wrong with this. We each are unique and normal is truly overrated.
The truth is that numbers do not mean squat if you are not happy with your blog. What I have found in this blogging community are friends that encourage me to blog about what I want rather than what is “popular” in the blogging community. I truly have gained some best friends from my blogging journey. A few months back during an issue where a company accidently cc’d me in on nasty emails, I found comfort and support from my fellow bloggers. They fought for me and with me and helped me see that I was not alone. For this I will be forever grateful.
There is so much that I could say here about those I have met through blogging, but I just want you to know that you must Blog with Confidence in order to succeed. Do not worry about what others are writing about and don’t focus on numbers. Sit down and plan out your blog posts to share based on what you want and be confident about it. I guarantee you that regardless if you are a foodie or fashion lover there will be others that will love your post. My mom always said, “Be who you are and never apologize for it,” which I feel is the best advice I can give. Not saying you will be happy with all moments in your blogging adventure, but making the effort give this a real go will prove to be the fulfillment you desire.
Oh and if you missed the whole message of this post, basically I am telling you to Blog with Confidence. Have a great day and leave in the comments below why you feel it is important to blog with confidence!
